Today, I was given the task to rename my files from all uppercase to lowercase. I had to run a batch. I was looking for a command in Unix (I am on Mac OS X @ work) and my Unix command skills are a little fuzzy. I decided to go with a GUI based program (freeware) called File List 1.2. It worked like a charm, but it’s only for Macs. There are plenty of Windows equivalents out there, just give it a google. I downloaded File List 1.2 from here. Scroll down and you’ll see it. I give it 4/4 paninis.

If you want to use the CLI (Command Line Interface), I found that this command works as well:

for i in *; do
mv $i `echo $i | tr [:upper:] [:lower:]`;
done
